What we believe and preach
We place a high priority on preaching the Word of God as it is found in God’s inspired word, the Bible.
We believe in the power of God’s Word, applied by the Holy Spirit, to transform those who believe and to bring them to new life in Christ. This new life begins now and goes beyond death into eternity.
Our formal doctrinal statement is as follows.
We Believe;
We believe in the power of God’s Word, applied by the Holy Spirit, to transform those who believe and to bring them to new life in Christ. This new life begins now and goes beyond death into eternity.
Our formal doctrinal statement is as follows.
We Believe;
- the whole bible, containing both the Old and the New Testaments, is the inspired and infallible word of God, a revelation of his will to mankind, and is therefore the final authority for Christian faith and conduct (2 Tim 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:21)
- in the only true God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and the Holy Spirit, equal in power, glory and majesty.
- in the Lord Jesus Christ to be both God and Man, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, was crucified, the just for unjust, to become the sin offering for the world. By the shedding of His precious blood, He justifies all who put their trust in Him as personal saviour. He was buried and according to the bible, rose on the third day. Later ascended on high and seated on the right hand of the Almighty God to intercede on behalf of all believers. He will come again to fully establish His Kingdom and reign in justice and peace.
- in the immediate work of the Holy Spirit – the third Person of the Trinity – in the regeneration of men and women, in their sanctification, and in their preservation to the heavenly kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- the first man was created in the image of God, who later fell because of disobedience. Consequently he was subjected to the suffering of death, both physically and spiritually. From him, all mankind inherited the sinful nature and became separated from God. Their only way of reconciliation is through the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus.
- in the bodily resurrection of "both the righteous and the unrighteous”, all of whom will be judged. The righteous will be received into eternal glory; the unrighteous will face judgment and eternal punishment.
- that the church is composed of believers who have been cleansed by the precious blood of Christ, and born again by the Holy Spirit. The mission of the church is to fulfill the commission entrusted to us by the Lord to spread the gospel to every nation, and to build up the saints in His truth.
- in the two ordinances of the Lord Jesus Christ, namely, Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, which are of perpetual obligation. Baptism being the immersion of believers upon the profession of their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and a symbol of the fellowship of the regenerate in His death, burial, and resurrection: the Lord’s Supper being the remembrance, until He comes, of the sacrifice of the body and blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.
