History
A Baptist Church was commenced in Sunshine in 1919. This Church developed an outreach into the St. Albans area and a congregation gathered in a newly built manse/ chapel in 1968.
In 1972 the current church building was opened, and in 1973 the Sunshine building was sold and the two congregations merged into the Sunshine / St. Albans Baptist Church.
August 2001 saw the arrival of Rev. Chinh Dinh as a second Pastor to the church and the planting of a Vietnamese congregation as a part of this combined church.
In December 2004, the Western Region Chinese Christian Church began conducting Worship Services in this building, and in 2007 was incorporated into this multicultural church, with the addition of Rev. Phi Duong to the team of Pastors. To reflect this new reality we are now known as Western New Community Baptist Church.
February 2016 saw the Vietnamese congregation move from Western New Community Baptist Church so as to forge in a new direction of ministry. The Chinese and English speaking congregations still operate as a multicultural church.
Culture
As seen above, we are a multicultural church, comprising two congregations, that work together as one body. We have separate Services on a weekly basis in English and Chinese.
Periodically we come together for a Combined Service where the languages of all congregations are employed and all attendees are able to be involved by virtue of 'on screen' displays of any language not being spoken at a particular time. These are great times of combined fellowship and are usually accompanied by a following luncheon.

What we Believe and Preach
We place a high priority on preaching the Word of God as it is found in God’s inspired word, the Bible.

Pastor Wilfred Dawson (English Congregation)
email: wjd43bang@gmail.com Phone 0413 738 834 Wilfred was born and grew up in India and arrived in Australia in 1974. As a child and at secondary school he played cricket, hockey and participated in athletics. During his pastoral ministry years, Wilfred enjoyed golf, fishing and bowls as recreational activities. These days he is content to be an armchair ‘sportsman’ watching sport on TV. Wilfred has four adult children and four grandchildren spread across Australia and overseas. He completed his Batchelor of Theology in 1980 and commenced his pastoral ministry in 1982. Over the past eight years Wilfred has continued his study and research whilst also writing a number of short books. He cooks for himself and is an ardent AFL supporter. |

email: duongphi68@gmail.com Phone: 0401 010 366 南飛(腓力) 出生和長大在越南, 一九七七年接受耶穌基督為個人的救主, 一九八零年接受洗禮. 一九八九年定居在昆士蘭之後在二零零五年全家移居到墨爾本 二零零四年南飛在昆士蘭浸信會聖經學院完成教牧學士學位. 二零零五年在一間華人教會舉行就職典禮，然後在二零零九年得到墨爾本浸信會聯會受封為按立牧師。南飛的太太黃錦潔(凱蒂)是一位被公認的口譯員，他們有三位子女，南飛的愛好是音樂，唱歌，學習和幫助別人。 |
Phi (Philip) was born and grew up in Vietnam, accepted Jesus Christ as his savior in 1977 and was baptised in 1980.
He settled in Queensland in 1989 and then moved to Melbourne with his family in January 2005. Phi completed his Bachelor of Ministry Degree at the Queensland Baptist College of Ministry in 2004, was inducted by a Chinese Christian church in 2005 and ordained by the Baptist Union of Victoria in 2009. Phi’s wife, Kiet Cam Huynh (Katie), is an accredited interpreter and they have three children. Phi’s interests are music, singing, learning and helping people. |
